“The Land of Smiles,” is such an appropriate title for this country as we found many Thai people so helpful and full of happiness. This trip was my first visit to Asia, and so going with my friend for Christmas was very exciting. We aimed to explore as much of the country as possible within our short stay, and we were not dissapointed/
We began in the capital city of Bangkok which is full of temples, tourists and traffic. We explored the many shrines, parks, palaces and Khao San’s nightlife. Do not over look this destination as it contains the most renowned restaurants and street food the entire country offers, not to forget, some cheap places to get full body massages! The second stop on our itinerary was Phuket, were we visited The Big Buddha, Chaithararam Temple – Wat Chalong and Karon View Point. Our villa was located close to Kata Beach and Patong Beach’s famous nightlife, which personally I preferred over Khao San.
My Christmas day was spent in Koh Phi Phi, a small island with no cars or roads and plenty of beautiful long beaches to choose from. It was the perfect place to relax or party to your own extent. A definite place to visit for backpackers and young travellers alike. Before our long haul flight home, we spent a couple of days in Krabi, home to some of Thailand’s most beautiful nature reserves such as hot springs, waterfalls, hills and beaches. Despite the heat, we managed to climb 1237 steps to the top of the Tiger Cave Temple for a stunning view of the nature around us. For my future trip to this wonderful country, I will make sure to spend some more time in Krabi and also explore the North.
